The premier ski areas in the South Island of New Zealand are renowned for their amazingly long ski seasons.  

This year the season kicked off with  Coronet Peak (near Queenstown) opening on 7 June.    During the subsequent weeks Mt Hutt,  The RemarkablesCardrona Alpine Resort,Treble ConePorters and the ski areas in the Mackenzieregion open their runs for skiers and riders alike. 

Most ski areas remain open until late September, with some running right through until the middle of October!
